This year was marked by more donations than ever before. The increase in clothing, toys, small household appliances, blankets, hats and gloves allowed us to provide an excellent selection for the families who received assistance at Candy Cane Corner. We were constantly delighted by the generosity of our community as donations filled our store each day. We will begin collecting donations again in October to get ready for another busy season at Candy Cane Corner.

Volunteers help us keep the store stocked and running and wrap gifts for families. Volunteering at Candy Cane Corner is a wonderful way to get into the spirit of the season while helping those the store serves. Our volunteer sign up filled up early this year. Watch for more news in October and November about next year’s volunteer opportunities.
We are delighted to report that Candy Cane Corner was able to help 548 families this holiday season. Everyone who donated, volunteered, or shared information on Candy Cane Corner helped make the season bright for 1,312 children. We are could not help so many without the love and generosity each of you shared this year.

We’ll be back next year, to help more families in need have a warm & full holiday season.

Thank you – The Road Home, YWCA of Salt Lake, and Volunteers of America, Utah.

We’ve had a wonderful first week at Candy Cane Corner and are ready to start another!

Right now, Candy Cane Corner needs wrapping paper and tape, stockings, girls and boys underwear, larger size diapers, teen gifts, and men’s and women’s shoes.
We still have a surplus of infant clothing, coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. While we don’t need these items at Candy Cane Corner, our three partner agencies would love these donations.

We’d like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who have made our first week at Candy Cane Corner so delightful! With your help, we were able to have dozens of families shop for their holiday gifts, wrap hundreds of gifts, and keep the store running in ship shape! We’re so excited to have many more volunteers join us at Candy Cane Corner over the next two weeks. A few spots have opened up on our Volunteer Schedule. We’re also happy to give younger supporters tours of the store when they deliver a donation.

We would also like to thank everyone who has brought in lovely donations for this year’s Candy Cane Corner. We have never seen the store so well stocked!

At Candy Cane Corner, we know just how hectic the holidays can be. With family and friends to think about, it can feel like there’s not much left to give back when the hustle & bustle is done. You can get an early start on lending a hand this year though, by donating to Candy Cane Corner.

Candy Cane Corner is a partnership between The Road Home, YWCA of Salt Lake, and Volunteers of America, UT. This holiday store is a great way to help make the season bright for the families our three agencies help. We are collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys, clothing, and household items to stock the store before we open on December 3.

While we’re working to get the store set-up, donations can be delivered to The Road Home at 210 S. Rio Grande St. (455 W.), just let their staff know the donation is intended for Candy Cane Corner. Here are some ideas on how you can warm your heart & help Candy Cane Corner early in the holiday season:

Here are some ideas on how you can warm your heart & help Candy Cane Corner early in the holiday season:

Black Friday Shopping – this is a great time to stock up on donations for Candy Cane Corner!
We often run low on gifts for teenagers (13-18 years), small home appliances (coffee makers, alarm clocks, toasters), and clothing for women (sizes 4-16) at Candy Cane Corner.

Kids pick a gift – if you’ve got younger supporters in your family, have them pick out a toy or outfit they’d like for themselves, then visit us at Candy Cane Corner to make your donation. Tours of Candy Cane Corner help our youngest supporters understand where their gift is going & who it will help. Our store is open 7 days/week & no appointment is needed for donation delivery or a tour!

Volunteer – we need help with store set-up Nov. 26 – 30. We put the store together, decorate, and get everything ready for our first shoppers on December 3. Email volunteer@theroadhome.org to sign up!

Each year, Candy Cane Corner helps families in need celebrate the holidays with new gifts. Parents visit the store with their case manager and select gifts for their children and themselves. For many of the families we help at Candy Cane Corner, it has been a very long time since they were last able to shop for new clothes or toys. The experience is both empowering and deeply moving for the people we help through this program.

We hope you’ll join us at Candy Cane Corner this year as we bring magic and holiday cheer to the children, mothers & fathers we help.

This year, we were able to help 551 families, including 1,277 children, celebrate the holidays through this wonderful program. Your donations of new, unwrapped clothing, toys and household items stocked the shelves and ensured everyone who benefits from Candy Cane Corner had a beautiful selection of gifts. Hundreds of volunteers who donated their time and skills kept the store running smoothly, making it a pleasant place for everyone who entered.

Thank you to all our donors, supporters and volunteers for a delightful year at Candy Cane Corner. This program simply would not be possible with out you.

We are proud to have completed our 14th year of Candy Cane Corner and look forward to helping more families next year. We hope you’ll check back with us in the coming months for news on next year’s store location, donations and way you can help! We hope your New Year is filled with joy and success!

The Road Home’s Candy Cane Corner | Salt TV Network.

The week before Christmas is always filled with hustle & bustle, but there is still time to help families in need celebrate.
Candy Cane Corner will be open through Dec. 23 and will continue to collect donations until closing, 7:00pm, that day. Your donations of clothing, coats, toys & household items will help the families we serve at Candy Cane Corner. So far, over 1,200 people have received assistance at Candy Cane Corner this year. All of them will have a happier holiday because of you!

There is also still time to volunteer or stop by the store for a tour. Many of our volunteer slots are indeed full for this week. While we can’t schedule any additional large groups (5+), if you have an hour or two to help at the store, we would love to have you. If you are a “walk-in” volunteer, please check in with a store manager when you arrive. If you have a large group who would still like to help, we encourage you to bring in donations & ask a store manager . . . → Read More: Candy Cane Corner | Salt TV Network
